Biography:

Prof. Zhou received his Bachelor Degree from Tsinghua University in 1950. He went to study in the department of metallurgy, Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys in 1953, and got his PhD in 1957. Now he is a Full Professor at the School of Materials Science & Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

His major research interests are Solidification Theory and Technology, and metallic glass. He has published more than 500 papers and won numerous awards including National Invention Prize, National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, Technical Achievement Award. He has trained around 50 Ph. D students, 7 of them won the National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, and 1 of them won the National Young Scientist Award.
